Overview

IC Americas is an independent online magazine that publishes practical, evergreen guides for readers in the United States. “IC” stands for “Informed Choices.” This policy explains what information is handled when you visit icamericas.net or email our editors, and how it is used.

We do not use cookies, advertising, or tracking that follows readers across other websites. We have no user accounts, newsletter, comment system, or forms that collect personal information. For more about the magazine, see About IC Americas. Our editorial standards explain how we prepare and check guides.

Information we collect

If you email the editors, we receive the email address you use and the contents of your message, including any information you choose to include. Emails are used only to read and answer them. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is needed to explain your question or correction.

When you visit the site, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits in aggregate. It reports information such as pages viewed, referring pages, browser and device type, and country. It works without cookies, fingerprinting, or profiles of individual readers. Cloudflare, our hosting and content delivery provider, also processes technical data, such as IP addresses and request logs, to deliver the site and help protect it from abuse. See “Audience measurement” and “Our hosting provider” below for more detail.

Cookies and tracking

IC Americas does not use cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking designed to follow you across other websites, and we do not build profiles of individual readers. Our audience measurement works without cookies or fingerprinting.

Your browser or device may have its own settings for managing cookies or other storage. Those settings do not change how IC Americas operates: the site does not place cookies for analytics, advertising, or reader accounts.

Audience measurement

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused measurement service from our hosting provider. It helps us count visits in aggregate and understand which pages readers view, where visits are referred from, and general browser, device, and country information.

The service works without cookies, fingerprinting, or building profiles of individual readers. The information is used to understand site readership, not to identify individual visitors. This measurement is separate from the technical data Cloudflare may process to deliver and protect the site.

Our hosting provider

Cloudflare provides hosting and content delivery services for the site. To deliver pages and help protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses and request logs. These records are part of providing and securing the website, not a reader account or advertising profile.

Cloudflare also provides the aggregate analytics described above. Its processing of technical data is distinct from our use of email messages, which are used only to read and answer them. For information about Cloudflare’s handling of data, readers can look up Cloudflare’s privacy information directly. IC Americas does not link to other websites.

How we use information

We use email messages to read and answer readers, including questions or correction requests. We use aggregate visit information to understand how the site is being used. Technical data is processed by Cloudflare to deliver the site and help protect it from abuse.

We do not use these details to run a newsletter, maintain user accounts, show advertising, or track readers across other sites. Our guides provide general information, not medical, legal, financial, or tax advice.

Data sharing

IC Americas does not sell or share personal information. Emails sent to the editors are not sold or shared. Cloudflare processes technical data in its role as our hosting and content delivery provider, as described in this policy. We do not use advertising networks or affiliate links. No company pays to be featured, and there is no sponsored content. If that ever changes, it will be clearly labeled.

Retention

We use emails only to read and answer them. We retain correspondence for the time needed to handle that purpose and any related follow-up. We do not maintain a newsletter or mailing list. Technical data, including request logs, is processed by Cloudflare as part of hosting and protecting the site. This policy does not set a specific retention period for those provider records.

Your choices and US state privacy rights

You can choose not to email us. If you do contact us, you can ask us to delete your message and related correspondence by writing to the editors. You can also ask us to correct information in a message. We will review and respond to requests as applicable law requires.

Depending on where you live and which state privacy laws apply, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and other rights provided by state law. The scope and availability of these rights vary. IC Americas does not sell or share personal information, and does not use cross-site tracking. To make a privacy request, email the editors. We may need enough information to understand and respond to your request, but we do not ask you to submit it through a form.

Children’s privacy

IC Americas is not directed to children under 13. The site has no user accounts or forms that collect personal information. If you believe a child has emailed personal information to the editors, contact us and ask us to delete the message.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if our practices change or if clarification is needed. The date shown at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated. We will clearly label material changes in the updated policy.
